“Unofficial CV”

For a variety of probably not very good reasons, I don’t feel like I can manage Nanowrimo this November, but instead I am participating in Digiwrimo.

The introductory activity is to create an alternative CV, one that reflects what we think is most important about us, rather than what others might like to see. I can relate to this, since that is largely why I set up this web site and blog — I wanted a place to capture all the things I do that don’t fit into my professional life or the ranch/farm blog I write.

So here is a current draft at what is important about me to me.

(I’ve also used this opportunity to scan some old photos. This is a future digiwrimo project I’m thinking about.)

I have found it useful to change up my life fairly dramatically every 10 years or so.

I sometimes make unconventional choices.

I write a lot and seek publication little. I especially love to make handwritten letters.

I am an amazing cook and love to share food.

I have started a community seed library.

I care deeply about social justice.

I spend a lot of time in the digital world but might leave it entirely at some point.

  • I love the way you portray this with so many images. As you know, I am a big fan of your handwritten letters πŸ™‚

  • Love it and i feel like i truly learned a lot about what matters to you about yourself! Thanks for this

Btw ur project of scanning old photos? There is a guest contributor who wrote sthg related to that! Great minds πŸ˜‰

  • I poured over this unofficial CV. I imagined my life more this way. I made some different choices, but I often shake it all up every 5-10 years. Loved your pictures as well. Bread baking is my therapy. I love the kitchen with hot steam from the oven, flour everywhere, music playing, and a glass of wine in hand.

    • Thanks for the comment, Kimberley. It’s funny, but this isn’t at all how I imagined my life. πŸ™‚ And there are days it doesn’t feel like where I really want to be, but I keep reaching for my goals and try to enjoy life in the meantime. I couldn’t agree more about bread, wine, and music. When things start to feel out of control or going in the opposite direction of what I was hoping for, I often start a loaf of bread or go dig in my garden!

  • I love it! You sound more like a real person than just about anyone whose real CV I’ve read. Although, perhaps it is because your passions sound so similar to my own.
